Wine Buyers Purchasing Group FAQ’s
The following are some of the most frequently asked questions about selling your wine. To explore more on selling wine, give us a call or email us.
- What kind of wine do you buy?
- Do you buy other adult beverages?
- How do I begin the process?
- How quickly do you get back to me?
- How do I get paid?
- What do you do with the wine?
- Why should you use us?
- How do you value the wine?
- How do I ship them, or do you come pick them up?
We look primarily for collectible, high end wine but we will buy the entire portfolio if there is a mix and the bottles are in good condition. We do not buy bottles that are in poor condition or that have been kept poorly. And of course, we do not buy wine that has gone bad.
Do You Buy Other Adult Beverages?
Yes. We buy high end scotch, cognac, and other high end spirits.
It is very simple. Just email us a list of your wine. We prefer Excel or similar spreadsheet format if that is possible. This makes the process run more quickly on both ends. List the name of the wine, the year, number of bottles, the size and condition of bottle and we’ll get back to you immediately with a quote. Please also send your phone number. We prefer a land line as well as a cell phone if both are available.
How Quickly Do You Get Back to Me?
Within a few hours at the least, and a few days at the most. Depending on the size of the transaction, we can usually consummate the deal and have it out your door within a week.
We pay via one of two methods:
1. If we pick up the wine, we will pay you directly, with certified funds or cash.
2. If the wine is to be shipped, we use an escrow company to facilitate the transaction. The escrow company ensures the transaction is facilitated properly for both parties.
In either case your funds are available immediately (in contrast to an auction house where it can take weeks or even months).
I am a collector who has turned an avocation into a vocation. I have an extensive personal collection which I continue to grow. So I keep some, trade some, sell some and drink some.
Quite simply, we have been doing this for years so we know what we are doing. The process is clean simple and quick.
There are a number of criteria that we use, including the usual factors of wine pricing; make, vintage, etc. However, we also take into account liquidity on the market, as well as other soft factors, such as country of origin. Typically we value “Private Party Wholesale” which takes into account that the wine is not on the retail market.
How Do I Ship the Bottles, or Do You Come Pick Them Up?
If they are to be shipped, we handle all shipping. If we pick them up, we handle that as well.
